Arrange a Personal Consultation

The consultation is vital to assess your current and future hair loss pattern. The consultation is an opportunity for the doctor and the patient to discuss all aspects of their hair loss and their treatment prior to any further action being taken. Dr. Kiely encourages patients to ask as many questions as they feel necessary and to raise any issues or concerns they have about their hair loss.

In order to facilitate patients as quickly as possible Dr. Kiely will endeavour to arrange a consultation for patients within 2 weeks of a patient contacting his surgery.

The Consultation Process

In keeping with the model of best practise ALL consultations take place only between Dr. Kiely and the patient. No sales people are involved at any time.
Dr. Kiely's consulting rooms are relaxed and comfortable. They are extremely private and discreet.
Initial consultations last one hour on average, during which time a comprehensive assessment is made.
Dr. Kiely will discuss your history of hair loss and identify the type of hair loss you are experiencing. See The Norwood Scale. Future hair loss patterns will be identified at this stage also. You will be advised on what can be realistically achieved through surgery and over what period of time maximum results can be expected. It is vital that patients are realistic about their expectations.
A full medical history is taken, including details of any previous illnesses. If you are currently taking any medications or undergoing any other treatments for illness these will be noted.
Dr. Kiely will discuss all medical and surgical treatment options with you in detail.
You will also be given an estimate of the number of grafts, hairs and procedures you need, and, of course, the cost involved. See Follicular Unit Transplantation Explained.
At the end of the consultation you will have a clear understanding of the nature of your hair loss and what we can do to help. We strongly discourage you from making any decision regarding treatment on your consultation date. We advise that you take adequate time to consider what was discussed during consultation - perhaps with a family member or a friend.
Before you leave you will be given some further reading material on hair loss and treatment. You will also be given a number of forms (e.g. Medical Questionnaire, Consent Forms etc.) which you can study in the comfort and privacy of your home. If, at a later stage, you decide to proceed with treatment you will need to complete these forms and return them to Kiely Healthcare prior to surgery taking place. These documents form part of your patient record and as such are strictly confidential.

Do you have difficulty travelling?
Although a one to one consultation in person with Dr. Kiely at his Dublin or Cork offices is highly recommended we understand that some patients may have difficulty in travelling.  It is possible to arrange an initial consultation with Dr. Kiely via email.please click here email consultation. If, on the basis of the email consultation, you decide to proceed further a consultation, in person with Dr. Kiely will take place before any surgery is carried out.
