Highlights from the ISHRS meeting in Montreal Septmber 2008.

As always Dr.Kiely and his team were in attendance at the ISHRS meeting. This year it was in Montreal. As always, in keeping with the spirit of the ISHRS, we shared our knowledge generously and learned from others with gratitude. It was great to again meet our esteemed friends and colleagues such as Dr. Ron Shapiro, Dr. Walter Unger, Dr. Paul Rose and Dr. Bob Haber to mention but a few. We had just waved goodbye to them at the Rome meeting in April 2008. How quickly these meetings come around!

Over the years we have noticed a greater number of medical technicians, assistants and secretaries attending. We welcome this development as we strongly believe that medical education is not just for the doctor but for everyone on the medical team.

This year, two outstanding doctors have been recognized by their peers and given the highest honour of the "Platinum" and "Golden" follicle awards. A special congratulations to Dr. Jerry Coley of Carolina who received the Platinum follicle award and Dr. Paul Rose of Tampa, Florida who was given the Golden Follicle Award. These two surgeons have been recognized for years by their patients for consistently producing excellent results. No wonder their peers have recognized them as leaders and teachers in the hair restoration field.

Lectures and presentations included updates on hairline design, hairline density, trichophytic closure, coronal v saggital grafting, FUG, Mugs etc.

The conference ended with the ball where doctors, medical technicians, secretaries and others had the opportunity to catch up in less formal surroundings.

We look forward to the next ISHRS meeting in Amsterdam, June 2009.
